Suffolk County Police say they observed a 2018 Honda Accord being driven erratically on Straight Path near South 24th Street in Wyandanch on Tuesday, June 11 at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop after confirming that the Honda had been reported stolen in Nassau County on Saturday, June 8.

The driver of the Honda allegedly failed to stop and fled the scene in the vehicle, prompting interference from Police Aviation Section officers.

The Honda was tracked in a police helicopter until the driver stopped in the area of New Highway and Ralph Avenue in Copiague at approximately 8:30 p.m., at which point the driver and two passengers fled on foot, police say.

Canine Section officers successfully tracked down two of the suspects in the backyard of a nearby residence and placed them under arrest at approximately 9:20 p.m., according to police.

The third suspect has not been located, and no injuries have been reported, police say.

The two suspects, both 15-year-old males, were released as Juvenile Delinquents to the custody of their parents and are scheduled to appear in Family Court on a future date.
